When purchasing a hearing system as with any goods these day, with the ability to use the internet we are all becoming price conscious, as my client who came to me the other day was.
He had bought a hearing system from a company many miles away who came very quickly to provide a hearing test and a hearing aid and the work was performed to the clients satisfaction. However, two years on the company doesn't at this point have a representative in the clients area and he is having to wait for a service until they do.
Although, obviously to save money it is important to shop around, I would advise anybody to also look into the company you purchase from:
How long have they been operational? Are they longstanding in the area? Is it their own company or are you seeing a representative? If you are seeing a representative who is responsible for your aftercare - the representative or the company you approached? What comeback have you got if they cannot service your hearing aids.
There is a saying "Once bitten twice shy" - the above advice is stop you getting bitten at all! My advice would always be to approach two or three companies for hearing information, have the tests then make the decision based upon all of the facts. Don't rush into it until you feel comfortable with your decision.
Its can be an expensive purchase, but if done with caution and a little thought give you back fantastic hearing.
Good luck, and hopefully you will call us for our advice on your hearing situation.
