A hearing aid alone doesn't always give the outcome desired by the user in all situations. But in todays hearing systems you have some really useful technology that you can plug into in certain places.
Telecoil is actually old technology, but you used to be limited where you could use it as not everybody had it. This has changed, although peoples attitude to it hasn't and many are wary of using it because they don't understand it. The newer technology is Bluetooth which everybody has heard of because of mobile phones, etc.
At this point in time telecoil technology is wider spread and cheaper to utilize, and you will find loop systems in the bank, building society, church, every shop counter that deals with the general public, libraries, etc. You can also get telecoil equipment to work with your television, radio, telephone, CD, etc and it is simple and effective to use and can be the difference between a good result and a bad result.
Blue tooth is fabulous but is more expensive to buy but works beautifully with mobile phones, normal phones, television, music players, etc.
So don't judge your hearing aids as useless because they don't give you the desired result in one area of your life. Give them some support and look at ways of increasing their ability.
If you go to the RNID website you can look at different products that can help or call your hearing aid audiologist who should offer you guidance on what may help you
