'Tinnitus' is the Latin word for 'ringing'

It is the perception of sound in the absence of any corresponding external sound.

Tinnitus can be heard in one ear or two,or not perceived to be anywhere other than inside your head. It can be a ringing noise, a shushing noise and has even been perceived as a concerto !

What causes tinnitus ? The precise cause of tinnitus is still not fully understood. It has been believed to be because of disease, or damage to the ear or even stress related and it can affect anyone to differing degrees.

Sam qualified as a tinnitus counselor in 2007, and further qualified in hypnotherapy, stress management and neuro linguistic programming in 2009, and can provide support and information on tinnitus; its causes; symptoms, and solutions.

Having provided this service to the local primary care trust for the last three years.
