Oticon started its journey way back in 1904 as the brainchild of Danish entrepreneur Hans Demant, whose wife Camilla suffered from hearing loss. Seeking to help her plight, the Dane began to import hearing aids from American manufacturer General Acoustic Company and sold his first device in Odense, Denmark.
The business expanded rapidly and, during the Second World War, having been unable to continue to import American devices, Hans’ son William took it upon himself to manufacture the component parts in Denmark itself. This early model was known as the ‘Acousticus’. In the aftermath of the war, Demant went into partnership with American hearing aid specialist Charles Lehman, and thus the Oticon of today was born.
Now part of the wider eponymous Demant group, Oticon operates in 30 countries and distributes to a further 100, where it has garnered a reputation for reliability coupled with inventive design. Their mission statement harkens back to that first instance of Hans and his wife Camilla:
“To help people with hearing loss fulfil their potential while living the life they choose, with the hearing they have”
It is in precisely this spirit of charity and goodwill that we present the Oticon Opn S™, a hearing aid that truly lives up to Oticon’s motto of ‘People First’.
Expanding upon its revolutionary predecessor, the Oticon Opn – the world’s first hearing aid with full internet connectivity – the Opn S once more puts its onus on the wearer by utilizing the brand-new Velox S™ Platform, OpenSound Optimizer™, OpenSound Navigator™ and BrainHearing™ tech in order to offer a one-of-a-kind listening experience.
Key Features:
Velox S™ Platform
Boasting increased memory, high-sensitive detectors to measure minute changes in the sound environment 56,000 times per second, and a proactive feedback management system, the Velox S is one piece of high-tech that sets the Opn S apart.
OpenSound Optimizer™
The annoying whistling that comes from hearing aid feedback is a thing of the past with the new OpenSound Optimizer, which stops feedback before it occurs for a stress-free listening experience.
OpenSound Navigator™
In order to create a balanced, full soundscape for every listening environment, the Opn S employs the Navigator system, which enables users to focus on exactly what they want to hear via a three-step, split-second program.
BrainHearing™
Unlike other manufacturers, Oticon doesn’t just focus on the ears, but the way the brain hears, too: their BrainHearing system is designed to replicate the way sound is processed normally for a seamless experience. With the Optimizer and Navigator working together, the Opn S takes this mission even further, offering up to 15% greater speech understanding, 10% memory recall and 10% less listening effort than previous models.

Unable to make a visit to one of our clinics? Then don't worry - we'll come to you.
The Oticon More hearing aids are the world’s first hearing aid with an on-board Deep Neural Network learning software. This means that the hearing aid learns about which sounds are most important to you to help you hear them with their surround sound technology, which works with your brain to enable you to hear people that aren’t facing you.
Oticon features the fantastic “BrainHearing” sound processing technology that results in less effort being required when tuning into a conversation. It helps with better speech comprehension and improved memory of what was heard.
If you’ve purchased a hearing aid with us to find out that it’s not working as expected we have a 3 month exchange period within which you can come back into our clinics to discuss trying out alternative models that could be better suited to your experience. Please note that we do not provide trials for customers that have bought their hearing aids with other companies such as Specsavers, Boots or Hearing Direct.
It is our number 1 priority to get our clients sorted with the best improvement in quality of life possible. Our Audiologists alongside our Hearing Care Assistants (HCA’s) are available on the phone, in-clinic or through our TAWK chatting service to arrange a follow-up appointment at a time that suits you.
